Dogs make all kinds of sounds, but there are certain ways that are always fun to write how they bark.
Woof is always a fun option for how dogs bark. Lots of dogs sound like they say "woof" and it is fun to respond to them by saying "woof."
If a dog doesn't sound like it is saying "Woof!," it often sounds like it saying "Ruff!" It seems that many times dogs make sounds that seem like the start with a W or an R.
If dogs bark and the bark doesn't sound like it begins with a consonant, it often sounds like they say "arf!" The R sound is still in the bark, which seems normal.
Dogs hardly seem to make sounds that sound like they start with the letter B, although sometimes it happens. My mom's chihuahua mix, Niblet, often sounds like he says "buff," or "boof." However, it is always cute to hear a little kid call a dog a "bow-wow."
Ruh-Ruh sounds a lot like Scooby Doo's "Ruh-Roh," which only shows that the creators of the cartoon knew what they were doing. Ruh-Ruh is cute as sometimes dogs don't have an ending consonant on their barks.
Of course, it may sound like dogs make other sounds. I had a dog named Marbles that sounded liked he was "warf." (This is not the word "wharf.") The "Warf" sound is a W sound in front of "arf!"
Mine "woooo" ... as well! Thanks!
Thanks for the Onomatopoeia for barking. H5
