This list is by no means a scientific study on facebook apps. It is merely a list of things that I find occupy more than a little of my time when I let them. The key for me is to set a limit on the amount of time I spend on apps or I will easily be sidetracked.
With over 63 million players, I am not alone in having FarmVille being a major time killer. Like any addict would say, "I can stop playing at any time!" In my case, though, this is true. I have returned to playing FarmVille after a fairly long vacation from it.
Unlike FarmVille, the MindJolt Games app offers a wide variety of games. I like the word and card games, particularly. There is also a game called Warzone Tower Defense (and others like it) that keeps me coming back.
It is really easy to click the 'Play Again' button on any of the games you play in the MindJolt app trying to beat your score or the scores of your friends.
Bejeweled Blitz is a short, 1 minute version of the popular game Bejeweled. It is fast paced but, similar to the MindJolt Games, it is really easy to click that 'Play Again' button. When you do poorly, the reaction is to play again trying to redeem yourself. When you do well, the reaction is to play again to try to duplicate the success!
Farkle is a game that involve rolling dice. It is similar to that old favorite, Yatzee. You try to score as many points as you can through different combinations of dice while avoiding a 'farkle.' Like number 3 on my list, you are inclined to play again when you do both poorly or well - trying to erase the poor performance or duplicate the success.
CityVille is made by the same folks that made FarmVille - well, the same company anyway. CityVille thus has a similar appeal. Think SimCity on a smaller scale.
Oh I was once a Farmville addict! Now I have to avoid any of those types of games, fearing it will take over my life, like Farmville did!
Thanks for the top five time killers on Facebook. H5!
Bejeweled...bad. LOL!
A couple of these sound tempting--but I'm not falling for it!
