Going to church is a personal decision. Here are a few reasons it might be good to give it a try.
Life is hectic and it is easy to get caught up in everyday life. It is good to step away from it all once in a while. Going to church forces a person to think in a different way. Instead of focusing on the things that are important to the world, it focuses on ideas that build our character and spiritual well-being.
We can learn from the good examples of extraordinary people in the scriptures. They had courage, bravery, faith and hope. We can also learn from other people who like going to church. Most of them are trying to live their lives the way they believe God would want them to. These people often inspire us to be better ourselves. No one is perfect and there are those at church that understand that. Feeling the love and support from these individuals encourages us to keep going.
We can learn to have gratitude by going to church. When we see that others have trials, it helps us to stop thinking about ourselves for a little while. We can often feel bad about the areas in our own lives that are not going well. Others can have similar struggles, or even ones that are worse. It can make us grateful for our own situation and helps us to have the strength to overcome our own problems.
When we start going to church, we can learn of others that might need our help. Sometimes there are those who have just had surgery or an illness. They might like a visit or a home-cooked meal. We may also be asked to be of service at church like teaching a Sunday School class or a youth group. The teacher always learns more than the student. Being of service and helping others makes us feel good.
One great thing about going to church is we get to sing. Even if a person does not have a good voice, singing has many benefits. It is a wonderful way to show emotion and expression. Studies have shown that singing reduces stress, lowers blood pressure and is excellent for the brain.
I love feeling renewed every week. And no one cares how badly I sing!
I absolutely love this list. It is so important to include church as one of your weekly activities. Nice job on this.
Good points. Finding a good one is another matter. :)
I agree with your great list of reasons to attend church. I find if I don't go to church, I don't have much to keep me going for the rest of the week. h5
