During all my CARAVAN TO CATCH A KILLER tours I meet many families who also have unsolved homicides. If you are not famous, not rich, don't have had a murder in another country or don't have a "bizarre(?) murder, you rarely get national media coverage. Without that, there are very few ways to get your story across the US (especially when you begin to rule out thousands of suspects). Britany's Bridge will take small steps at 1st by families sharing the facts of their homicide with Brittany's Bridge. A MAster list will be created and then shared with those local PD. As the group grows, it has potential to expand across the US.
I learned on my tours that most people do not do what I do, travel cross country sharing my daughter's media story with local papers and TV stations. Either I or they can then share this master list with their local Police, Sherrifs and State FBI
Unsolved homicides can go cold if stories are not shared very often with other PDs. Through word of mouth, website posting, sharing with local Detectives, we could expand the number of police departments who can know about the unsolved homicides that fill our US cities.
Through sharing Brittany's story with 94 reporters across 45 states, I have gained hope that something will ring familiar with a detective somewhere. I also gain hope as I share familiar feelings with other families.
Through Networking with this group, one not only receives help to share unsolved homicides with other police departments, but it can also be a support network for survivors.
By finding a way to share unsolved homicides, we may find a way to stop those who are travelling our highways from city to city, taking our loved ones.
There are many good groups for supporting families of missing persons, families of homicides. But there are very few specific support/information networks for families of unsolved homicides. This national network has the potential to create a real time sharing network about thse unsolved and cold cases. This will not only solve cases but take preators off the streets, not letting them take any more lives. Contact can be made thru website or therapoet@aol.com
Thank you clewand550. Your posting helps share the word...with never ending gratitude
