Here are my tips on how to write great poetry. These tips have helped me write poetry I'm proud of.
Imagine yourself in the title. If you're writing about trials, then close your eyes and feel sorrow deep down with in you. You'll find that the words will come to you as clear as running water.
Remember to take a pencil and notepad with you whenever you are out and about. Take these writing tools with you in the car. You'll soon find out that many things will come to your mind, and bam a poem is born.
To be a successful writer, write as often as possible. This helps your creative flow stay strong, and full of passion for writing poetry. Even keep a pencil and pad in the bedroom. Your emotions will flow easily right before bed. Many thoughts have come before you, wanting for you to notice them, and write a poem about them.
Find your center, by sitting quietly, and thinking about how you feel about your deepest thoughts about the poem you're about to write. Now, let your thoughts float freely, and what start coming to mind, start writing them all down. Then, you can change it around as needed. Pray for inspiration as well, and this one act will speak directly to the heart.
In order to write poetry you must love to think in free flowing emotions with great passion. Writers that feel thing strongly love to write all about every thing that happens around them. I just love writing poetry. Loving poetry is all about passion, and when the urge hits you to write a poem, write it down before you forget it.
People who do what they love to do are usually successful at it. Write with all your heart. You'll love where it takes you.

Great tips.
This is an excellent list for poets. I know you know these details well since I have read your poetry and it follows your thoughts here.
These are really good ideas. I find it hard just to begin writing a poem!
Great tips!
Writing often and keeping that pen and pad handy definitely works .. especially keeping pen and pad available in the car (waiting on kids to get out of school) and in the lavatory (where we spend a fair amount of time on a daily basis) .. hi5.
Thanks for the tips on writing great poetry. H5!
