Many times just having a cat inside will be enough to deter mice and rats from coming into the house. Otherwise a good mouser will soon take care of the problem.
Small terrier breeds like the Yorkshire Terrier make great mousers. And because of a dogs willingness to please their owner they can be just as good if not better than a cat at keeping the mouse population down.
Mice hate the smell of peppermint, so planting the shrubs around the foundation of your home can be an easy way to keep them out. You can also soak some cotton balls in peppermint oil and place them in areas where the mice may be getting inside.
Try and find any holes or cracks where the mice may be coming inside. Then stuff some steel wool into the hole and seal it up with expanding foam. The steel wool helps because the mice cannot chew their way through it.
Their are a couple of electronic pest repellents on the market that work really well. Just plug them in and your pest problems will soon go away.
The only problem with this type of pest control is that it's not a good idea to use them if you own any type of rodents or spiders as pets.
When Using an electronic pest repellent you may at first see more mice than ever. This only means that they are starting to make their way outdoors.
Good list of 5.
My kitty cat rules at catching those mousies!
Great 5's list!
If all else fails a cat will usually do the job. :)
I have resistant mice - put peppermint ladened cotton balls in my drawers - suckers at the cotton balls. Laughed in my face...cat got em though.
