It is not necessary to spend a lot on your sweetheart for Valentine's Day when you consider these places. If you have never tried these suggestions, you will be surprised what a great time you can have without emptying the wallet.
There are many lighthouses on both coasts that are either open to sight see or at least walk on the grounds with your sweetheart. If you don't live near lighthouses, choose a nearby park and enjoy that hand in hand stroll together along the water's edge. Look at the beauty of nature and the beauty in your partner. These places are either free or a small entrance fee. Ask for any discounts you might be able to use also. Celebrating the specail love day with your partner will not greatly affect your budget when you consider this tip.
Many states have riverfront, lake front or a body of water you and your special one can enjoy quality time together without spending a lot of money. Some communities have man made ponds where a walk can be enjoyed without spending anything to enjoy Valentine's Day together. Bring a hot drink in a thermos so you can extend the time walking together, arm in arm and save money while having a wonderful time. Love is in the air when you are in your Valentine's company no matter where you are.
If you live in a place where zoos are open all year round you can spend a delightful time with your Valentine for the admission fee. Some Zoo's have special days they give discounts, make your trip to the zoo together for a small fee. Enjoy the continual entertainment of the animals around you while lots of smiles and laughs are shared with your sweetheart as you celebrate Valentine's Day. If your location does not have a zoo, there are other ideas too. Look for a ranch or stable in the country to watch animals from the car or nearby sitting area. Just being with your special person will add to a delightful time.
Look in the Telephone book, on the Internet or go to your Chamber of Commerce to find the nearest Aquarium for you and your sweetheart. Lots of good exercise, happy animals and marine life can be enjoyed for hours with your Valentine. Don't forget the camera for lasting memories of the fun day at the the aquarium on a budget.
Take a stroll through an arboretum with your sweetheart for an inexpensive Valentine's Day celebration. When an arboretum is not close enough for you to go to, visit Plant land or other flower and greenery shops. All the DIY Home Depot and Lowe's have a separate area where you and your darling can enjoy some time together that will not cost you anything. Celebrating Valentine's Day should not ruin your budget.

Romantic doesn't have to be expensive for Valentines Day.
Beautiful and thoughtful Valentines suggestions.
Me too Penelope! (except the rose part) Otherwise, I truly wish we had a light house within driving distance. Auspicious list about places to celebrate Valentine Day. HI5
I love Valentine's Day, probably because Valentine is my middle (and a family) name, ... I'm the fourth generation to use it and my son is the fifth. One of my favorite things to do for Valentine's Day is to send Valentine's Day cards aka my belated Christmas cards ... as they seem to be appreciated, but are one less thing to do at Christmas, when there seem to be so MANY things to do!
Great suggestions! I love going to the nearby arboretum.
Great list. H5.
It may be surprising but I'm not that big on Valentine's day as I am about love. But the places you mention are beautiful, natural ways of sharing such a day with your lover. This is something that I would do rather than gush lol. I regret that I let my roses die when my husband used to bring them to me. I learned better. H5
