During a January 2012 fundraiser at Harlem's Apollo Theater, Obama belted out a nostalgic tune from the 70's classic tune by Al Green, "Let's Stay Together."
As He took the stage at a ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay here to give his speech remarks at the annual Democratic retreat, he told the more than 100 assembled lawmakers and their family members that he had just received a CD containing a recording of House Democrats singing their own version of the Al Green song.
It was an attempt to restore unity among the Democratic party and get the message across, "Let's Stay Together."
Al Green was in attendance at the fundraiser and Obama told him, "don't worry, I can't do the song justice like you." I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show you my appreciation." This song will now be a historic collector's item.
After Obama sang the classic Al Green 70's era love song, "Let's Stay Together" at a January 19 fund-raising event at New York's Apollo Theater, the song got a 490% sales boost, according to Nielsen SoundScan via Billboard.
The video of Obama singing the classic 70's song has gone viral online, causing an estimated 16,000 downloads the week he sang the old love song.
The song "Let's Stay together" sung by Obama, is now a popular campaign ringtone. This will also make it a collector's item for future memories of the 2012 Democratic campaign.
I love this song and just think it's a good song to revive and enjoy again. Al Green did a lot of hit songs on the 70's and I like feeling young again for a moment, at least. ;)
Thank you for you list.
