Many times seniors need help removing a food product from a high shelf. If you see a senior trying to remove a can, it would be polite to ask if the senior needs help, and then help to bring it down
Seniors often get backaches. Many cannot stand too long without pain. They usually buy only a few things. It would be polite to ask a senior if they would like to go ahead of you if the line you are both standing on is extremely long.
Seniors are people too. When they eat out and are alone, many are offered tables in the rear. Seniors enjoy dining in a place among other couples. They eat alone at home. When they dine out alone, it would be kind to offer them a table close to other diners so they can feel they are also a part of the other people.
Seniors might require time to drive out of their parking space. They might not be able to move as fast as you can. Perhaps it takes her a little longer to use the belt. Give the seniors respect. One day it might be your mother that will need help. Think about it. Would you like someone to assist your mother?
There are a few ways to show an elderly the respect due them. One, is to offer to help walk her to her car if she looks like she needs it. The other way is to speak to her as an adult. Do not treat them, or speak to them as if they were children. Keep in mind that one day, if you are lucky, you will be a Seniors as well.
Well done and great points.
Very true!
Thanks for the tips. H5
