Energy drinks are one of the top selling beverages in stores and on college campuses with over 600 varieties being offered to consumers. Red Bull has been banned in France and Canada has a warning label on all energy drinks.
People drink these high caffeine drinks for energy and to stay awake, but the danger lies in the effect it has on your body. Many people are psychologically addicted to these toxic energy drinks because of the quick boost of energy, ignoring the fact that it could be a deadly drink.
Energy drinks have an alarming amount of caffeine which is why the sudden boost of energy when one is consumed. What many fans of these energy drinks don't realize is what damage the caffeine is doing to their bodies. Because the caffeine enters the bloodstream quickly, it gives a big boost but then a hard crash follows that. Thus the vicious cycle of feeling the need for one.
Drinking the energy drinks alone are toxic and dangerous, but many young people mix them with alcohol, making a double whammy of toxins. Hospital emergency rooms have seen too many people come in for this reason. There have also been deaths due to these drinks and one Florida mother is on a quest to get them banned after her 19 year old son died suddenly from a monster drink.
Caffeine is both a stimulant and diuretic which means it increases your heart rate and if you exercise or play sports, all your nutrients are lost through sweating. Caffeine eats up important vitamin C needed to keep your immune system healthy. Drinking the energy drink will greatly dehydrate your body and reduce your cell's ability to protect you from sickness and disease.
Blood pressure is raised by these drinks and can be spiked too fast and soon because of the heart racing from caffeine. This can easily result in a stroke or heart attack.
Some energy drink producers are now using guarana as a substitute for caffeine which is no better as it has the same toxic effects. The FDA has not reviewed guarana so this is the same toxic energy drink with a switch in stimulants.
Energy drinks are not safe and should be banned everywhere. Drinking water or fresh juice is a healthier alternative to these dangerous beverages.

I find them too concentrated. The flavors are very strong.
