New Years resolutions are supposed to bring good and new changes to our lives, just as the new year is a fresh start from the old. Over 40 per cent of people make New Years resolutions, but, do people really stick to New Years resolutions? The statistics say no and it is when we really make up our minds for change, no matter what time of the year, then it takes place. Do not hesitate to make a resolution though, just make up your mind to keep it, which does take discpline.
Lung cancer is a horrible death and the COPD and many health problems that come from cigarette smoking are many. Good intentions to quit smoking are honorable, the high cost of cigarettes, the health issues, how to cope with stress in a healthier way and setting a good example for young watchers, but it takes some help for this one.
You have to make up your mind that no matter how many times you fail, you must get back up and keep on until you get it our of your symptom. There are pills and patches that do help and support groups that are a big help. Exercise such as waking daily is a great practice for this.

The oldest one in the book of New Years resolutions, lose that extra 10 or 20 pounds. As we get older, the body does not burn off calories like when we were young and if you eat however you choose, the average person gains 12 pounds a year! Besides becoming a health problem eventually, you don't feel attractive. One good way to start and you must find s good incentive, like for yourself and self- respect to stick with a life time change in eating and read good books about it.
This one is of course not a good one to start on New Year's Eve. The plan should be to go to a dry party or stay home and play family games with non-alcoholic drinks. One visit to a alcohol rehab or maybe read the obituaries of young and old alike killed by drunk drivers might be sobering enough to make a person really quit drinking.
This takes planning, reviewing all bills, possible budget counseling, which is very helpful, and sticking to cutbacks that are not a necessity like high channel cable, spa and health club memberships, going out to eat and movies when doing this at home can cut the cost in half. Change comes in the heart and the mind follows.
One only needs to hear the news and the tragedies every day to wake up to what is really important in life. I saw on the news a few days before Christmas, that an 18 year old brother and 15 year old sister were both killed on a school morning after a car accident. We cannot imagine such tragedy and what kind of remorse there would be if we had not made precious family memories. Consider the fact that none of us are promised tomorrow.
