A newborn baby brings joy and excitement to the couple it has blessed as well as their extended family, friends and neighbors. If you're wondering what you can do to help make this family transition easier for the parents read on for 5 much appreciated helpful gestures of kindness.
New parents will not have much time for planning or preparing meals for themselves so one dish meals, like casseroles or pasta bakes that can be reheated easily or frozen for later consumption will be so much appreciated. A well fed mommy and daddy will be better able to care for the baby that will be needing so much attention.
No matter how neat and clean this couple was before the baby arrived you can bet money that household chores will not get done as often as they used to while mommy and daddy adjust to parenthood. Somehow, dusting and vaccuuming will not be a priority, so jump in where you can to keep things neat and tidy and give the new parents one less thing to worry about.
With a new baby comes more dirty laundry and less time to wash, dry and fold. This couple will have more towels, sheets, burp cloths, and onesies than they could ever have imagined so doing a load or two while you're visiting can really make a difference.
Some days new parents are so exhausted they might not have the energy to get out of their pajamas to do the daily errands. Offer to make a grocery run, pickup dry cleaning or stop at the bank or post office for them.
Sometimes getting enough sleep can be so difficult if the little one's daytime naps are too short. Be there to take care of the baby when he/she awakes so the parents can have some extra time to catch up on their own sleep. Take control of the baby monitor and listen for the first signs of a waking baby and answer the call of duty (doodie), by changing diapers, feeding etc.
These are excellent, I needed that help so much when my babies were born and my church provided so much of this help!
