We all want to look like we have perfectly long legs without killing our feet in the process. Here are several shoe trends and explanations of their leg lengthening effects.
Obviously high heels give your legs a lift in the literal sense, but did you know that they also create optical illusions as well? Heels pitch the body forward slightly, accentuating curves that are higher up on the body, which makes the legs look proportionately longer.
A black heel paired with long black pants, for example, will extend the eye downward, making your legs look extra long. The same thing goes for heels and tights that are the same color.
If you've got a skin-colored wedge, wear it with shorts, a dress, or a skirt! The effect is the same as with high heels; the matching color between shoe and skin will create an illusion that the leg is just as long as the shoe.
The small triangle at the tip of pointed-toe shoes also carries the line of the leg onward. Many of these shoes extend pretty far past the end of your toes, but the extra space serves to lengthen your legs, rather than make your feet look extra big.
Boots that hit just below the knee can disguise muscular calves, slimming the legs and making them look longer and leaner. Ankle boots with heels are also a good option for petite women, as they can provide a little extra height while showing off slender legs, especially when paired with tights of a similar color.
If you haven't noticed already, these shoes cover all the four seasons, so you're able to keep your legs looking long all year round!
