Cereal is a favorite breakfast item for most kids. They love the sweetness. Moms love the convenience and it is an easy way for kids to drink milk. A caution for parents is that some cereals have too much sugar, so read the nutrition labels when grocery shopping. If you kid(s) are too hyper, you may need to switch cereals.
Frosted Flakes was one of my favorites growing up and my children also enjoyed Frosted Flakes Cereal. Frosted Flakes cereal contains 12 grams of sugar per serving. That's not the best, but also not the worst. Kellogg's has come out with a reduced sugar content of Frosted Flakes which has been a hit at my house since it hit the market.
Kellogg's Sugar Corn Pops contain 14 grams of sugar per serving. They ranked high on my list of favorite cereals growing up and also one my kids enjoyed. The sugar content is a bit higher than Frosted Flakes and one that probably should be used only on special occasions as a treat.
General Mills Lucky Charms Cereal is another kid's favorite. This is the cereal that has the crazy rabbit promoting it in all the commercials. Lucky Charms contains 14 grams of sugar per serving. I never really cared for this cereal much. My kids liked this one a good bit, but I did not purchase it on a regular basis due to the sugar content.
Cheerios is actually a pretty healthy cereal. It was my children's favorite cereal and I always kept a box in the pantry. Cheerios contains 1 gram of fiber per serving and made with whole grains. It contains only 1 gram of sugar! I got lucky with this one!
Kellogg's Fruit Loops Cereal is another favorite cereal for kids, especially those that love fruit! Kellogg's Fruit Loops Cereal contains 12 grams of sugar and is another cereal on the high side of sugar content.
General Mills Cheerios is a winner. It works for those worried about the sugar and kids usually like it, too.
