Having good numbers on your blood pressure is a good sign of overall health. Some of us can do this by following a good diet and exercise. Others have family history of heart disease and have high blood pressure already and are on medication. Either way, here are tips for keeping a healthy blood pressure reading.
It is essential that you eat a balanced diet high in fiber with fruits, vegetables and low in sodium if you are trying to keep your blood pressure down. Those people with high blood pressure already should be on a sodium-free diet.
Avoid foods high in fat and those that contain cholesterol. There are good fats and bad fats. You want to avoid Trans fats and Saturated fats. That means you shouldn't indulge in potato chips and dip, fried foods, butter, and especially fast food.
Don't get over stressed by situations that are out of your control. This also means that you should not worry about anything and everything that is also out of your control.
Relax by meditating, taking a walk, taking up a new hobby or signing up for a new yoga class. All of these things are great ways to keep yourself grounded and calm.
It is a proven fact that when you are overweight and lose weight, even five pounds, your blood pressure goes down. This is an excellent incentive for losing weight!
