It is one of those dreams that you think will never actually come true. The idea to work from home full time. Being a single mother, it was something that I really wanted to have happen so I did. Now I would not change anything for the world.
When I was not doing the work at home full time thing, I had to find someone to watch my daughter while I was working. She was still a toddler and school was not an option yet. What I found was that daycare could cost almost as much as my rent each month.
My last job was medical billing and was about an hour commute away. If you factored in tolls and gas, I spent $100 a week commuting to work. Now that I work from home, my commute is from my bedroom to the couch or dining room table. That is $400 a month that I now save.
When you work outside of the house, you have to follow a dress code. This means that you have to spend money on clothes. I remember having to go out to get work appropriate clothes. Now that I work from home full time, my clothing is whatever I want it to be. So if I want to work in jeans and my favorite Philadelphia Phillies T shirt, I can.
I never really thought about how unhealthy my daughter and I were eating. We would do fast food about once a week. The rest of the time it was quick pre-made meals. Now that I work from home, I can cook meals that are healthy.
It is amazing just how much time that you lose with loved ones when you are working outside of the house. I can spend a day out at the park with my daughter. While I am working, I can talk with and even keep my daughter company as she watches TV or plays on her own computer. I wouldn't trade this for the world.
This is a EXCELLENT LIST...
Great list. H5
Good work from home Top5List. The benefits are great for all the reasons you explained so well.
Yep, love the dress code (PJs many days!) and commute from the bed to the computer.
Excellent list, I agree!
