See if you agree that these are too personal questions from your prospective.
For the young set that were not brought up in the 40's and 50's, it is too personal to ask what salary a person is making. You can hint around and tell a person what salary you are making hoping to have the other person divulge what their payroll is sometimes with great success.
As the saying goes conversation about politics leaves room for annoyance, disagreement that can end up in a fight. Politics is too personal a question to ask or start up a conversation about unless you know the person well. Now, if someone asks about your political views, the door has been opened.
Religious beliefs are a highly personal area to discuss with just anyone. Even people of the same faith in the same family can be polar opposites and the friction can begin between them.It might be better to leave that religion subject right where it is without pulling it into the fighting ring.
The senior parents are often asked to go out with the young family members.Just before they all are ready to leave the house one of the adult children of the senior will say to Mom or Dad, "Do you have to use the bathroom before we leave"? I am a senior and think that is just too personal a question to ask me. It is asked in good faith, so I have never said anything to my adult children since they mean well in their question.
For so many people, the online dating sites are a different place to meet. For the people who don't go to bars and quite possibly are no longer going to the work place, the online dating site is the #1 choice. Some people, especially men asking women get very personal. It is up to the individual to determine questions that are too personal. For those asking questions, remember there are people behind the computer where you are asking your too personal questions.
Ann Landers had the perfect response for too personal questions: Nunya! Translation: None of your business. Of course, a little abrupt, but some people just won't take "No!" for an answer. You addressed this touchy subject just right. HI5
Great list!
I agree with all of these. Great list!
I know someone very dear to me that asks her much older brother if he needs to use the bathroom whenever it is time to leave the house and even if it is time to leave the restaurant to go back home. I agree with not asking about someone's salary and am surprised that some people think it is just fine to ask. Politics always seems to cause problems one way or another. Great list of 5 things that one should never strike up a conversation with. Well done.
You're right. These questions can lead to arguments with one is not careful. H5
