Hotels come in many shapes, sizes and variations. But in today's marketplace, competition is tight. Hotels are offering more and more free amenities to attract travelers. Here are five perks that should be free in order for you to do business with a hotel.
If a hotel you're considering doesn't offer free parking, move on. There will be a similar hotel in the same general area that throws in the parking at no additional cost.
Whether it's a continental breakfast or a full buffet, your hotel should be including breakfast at no additional charge. If they aren't, you should find a nearby competitor that does.
Some hotels still try to fleece customers by charging an outrageous amount of money for local phone calls or access to 800 numbers. These calls do not cost the hotel a penny, so you shouldn't be willing to stay at a hotel that charges for local phone calls!
Free in-room wi-fi is best, followed by free in-room cabled broadband. At the very least, make sure you can get free access SOMEWHERE in the hotel. If you can't, or are going to be charged for internet, find another hotel to stay in.
This one depends on your needs, and isn't an automatic deal-breaker, but do ask if the hotel offers a free airport or local shuttle van. If you won't have a car, this can be a big plus. If you need this service and the hotel doesn't offer it, find an alternative hotel in the neighborhood that can give you a ride.
Services and amenities do vary greatly from hotel to hotel, and it seems like the more expensive the hotel, the less perks you get. Hard to believe, but true! Shop around until you find a hotel that offers the services and amenities you need at a price you like! Happy travels!
I'd have to agree that absence of any of these would stop me from booking.
