I am not much of a horse person, but my wife went to College to study horses and learn how to train them, she assisted me on this List in regards to the best horse breeds for new riders.
Developed in America, the Quarter Horse is usually safe and reliable. Most are calm and level headed, not apt to spook or be silly. Select a well schooled gelding over 5 years of age.
Although many people think of Arabians as crazy horses many are excellent for beginning riders, most are just hyped up for shows.
Select carefully though, older geldings tend to be calmer than mares.
A grade horse is a horse of unknown breeding, many grade horses are used on trail rides and are trust worthy. Select a well trained grade horse for a beginner rider.
These smaller horses are known for their very smooth gaits. They can be hard to find and may be expensive, but they are often a good choice for beginner riders.
For small children a Miniature Horse can be good, however, like ponies, minature horses can have bad attitudes if spoiled. Miniature horses under 30 inches should not be riden.
In general older geldings make the best horses for beginner riders. Note that you will want to have an experienced rider test the horse first to make sure it is safe. Riding lessons are also important to have before you get a horse.
Another h5 for you today!
I like your horse list. Well done.
Nice share. Thanks for sharing.
