Growing up I thought the only thing you did with rum was mix it with coke. Boy was I wrong. Here are some of my favorite recipes for cocktails made with rum.
I paid $12 for one of these on a cruise I took. The drink is really simple to make. Mix 1 and 1/2 measure dark rum, 1/2 measure of creme de banana, 3 measures of pineapple juice, 2 measures of cranberry juice, 1/4 measure lime juice. Add ice and shake then strain into large wine glass. For a twist use a flavored rum!!
Easy-Easy-Easy and refreshing. This drink is made with equal measures of white rum and pineapple juice. Add a splash of grenadine, shake well, pour into a glass, and viola!
Don't drink too many of these at one sitting-you'll liable to be sitting on the floor! Equal measures of light rum, dark rum, and apricot brandy. Mix together and add 3 measures of orange juice and pineapple juice. Shake well-pour into a highball glass, then slowly add one measure of grenadine to create a very cool layered drink.
This is one of those rare drinks made with red grape juice. If you like a sweet drink you'll love this. 1 and 1/2 measure light rum, 1 measure of red grape juice, 1 measure of passion fruit juice, and 1/4 measure of pineapple syrup FROM THE CAN. Shake all the ingredients together and pour into a rocks glass.
Fabulous drink-easy to make and well received by guests. 1 and 1/2 measure of white rum, 1/2 measure coconut rum, 1 measure mango juice, 1 measure peach juice, 1/2 measure lime juice. Shake all ingredients with ice and pour into a highball glass.
There are just a few of my favorite drinks using rum as the main spirit. Let me know what you think-and feel free to add your own cocktail recipes!
