Here are only five choices other than television that can be selected. Try one or all of these this week to cut down on the boob tube time.Making an effort to deal with living people and get away from the television will enrich your life and those whom you interact with too.
Friends, family, co workers, church members and so many other people are waiting for a face to face personal visit from you. If you do not have someone to go to see, talk to a friend and both go see that person's friend. If you would rather; invite someone to your house for a face to face visit. When is the last time you had a tea party?
Some times the telephone brings a wonderful lift to a person. You won't ever know how important that call might be until you make it. Call someone for their achievement at work, the new baby or some other event you wish to share with another person. Don't put off the time you might have and help someone realize how important they are with your telephone call.
When you don't go to see someone in their home as in #1, this face to face conversation can occur anywhere you meet someone. You might just be so busy that you finally meet your neighbor in the grocery store doing your weekly shopping. Strike up a conversation and enjoy your quality time with the face to face conversation.
There are numerous elderly people in the nursing homes who never get visitors. Rehabilitation centers where people are transferred from the hospital to this facility because they are not able to go home can use a visit too. Go find someone who might just like to hear about the tree in your back yard, your pet or some other wonderful subject. Let them choose the conversation or bring a favorite book or magazine they could enjoy.
Unless we use our local libraries we just might have them close. Go into the library and spend some time finding out what interesting programs they might have for free. Go inquire about people who might show slides, share a travel experience with a video they took or other fun activities the library could have to remove you from the television.
Good list and some good ideas. My wife and I have a good friend that is a bit more extreme than we are when it comes to healthy habits and she loves tea. So...I loved the question, "When was the last time you had a tea party?" To me, it's one of those 'off the wall' great writing prompts...but it only works for someone who has actually had a tea party :)
I so agree with face to face conversation. It is becoming extinct. Good job.
