With movie industry in a slow decline, studios fight back harder then ever this summer to fill those theaters. These are the biggest contenders!
While the second installation "Revenge of the Fallen" got terrible reviews, it still killed at the box office. With Bay back to prove a point, the end of a trilogy, and giant fighting robots, Transformers should win the summer.
With the idea of the Captain America movie taking place during WWII as it should, there has been a lot of growing hype about this movie. Add in the fact that this is Marvel Studio's final solo movie before bringing the Avengers next year with the likes of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk - the build up alone should sell plenty of tickets.
Speaking of Avengers, Thor is one of those too! Add in a level of mythology, a touch of science and magic, and some Agardians and you have Thor. A relatively unknown character amongst the mainstream media, but the hype of Avengers should peak some more interest.
Hal Jordan had a tough race for 3rd place in my list. Realistically he may be even higher on this list. This movie will either blow audiences away or be a complete bust. I doubt it will fall anywhere in the middle. I have high hopes for this movie, but again being relatively unknown and no sign of a Justice League movie down the road might dim the Lantern's light.
This is another potential blockbuster, but with the reputation of X-Men 3: Last Stand, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine on the minds of some people it might just do lackluster in the theaters. Going back to the origin of the X-Men, and showing a time when Professor X, and Magneto were friends brings a big amount of interest to the film. Lack of original X-Men roster such as Ice Man, Angel, Cyclops, and Marvel Girl still hold some reservations amongst die-hards.
All of these movies will do decently enough at the theaters but which stand tallest? Transformers has the biggest wave so far, and Thor is already out of the gates. X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern are up. The summer is going to close with Captain America, and Transformers.
