I like the taste of cloves. I can occasionally suck on a whole clove to cover bad breath. They have been used that way historically. When I looked into the nutrition of cloves I was surprised at some of the high nutrition levels.
Two teaspoons of ground cloves have 66% of your daily nutritional needs of manganese. This is a very high amount. Manganese is a good vitamin to increase in your diet.
The same two teaspoons of ground cloves has about 8.5% of your daily nutritional need of omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids are very much needed for heart health.
Vitamin K deficiency is common, especially in postmenopausal women. Cloves (2tsp) contain 7.5% of your daily need for vitamin K. Vitamin K has been shown to help with protecting against some cancers.
Ground clove powder is a great source of dietary fiber. Two tsp has over 6% of your dietary fiber. Fiber added to a healthy diet can help lower cholesterol and increase overall vascular and heart health.
Cloves also have nearly 3% of your daily dietary need of magnesium and calcium. This is not a huge amount, but is a good way to supplement needed intake of these important vitamins.
Cloves and other spices are probably overlooked by most of us as a source of improved health. I am often surprised what compounds and trace minerals are prevalent in common household spices.
Thanks for this information on cloves. Had no idea that this spice was so nutritious. H5
Great list.

I love the taste and smell of cloves! Good list. :)
As ignorant as this may sound, I don't even know what a clove is, let alone know the benefits of eating them. Thanks for these tips.
I didn't know any of the above about clove! I only know that clove oil will relieve a toothache. Go figure!
