Georgia Department of Education Should Not Cut the Pay of Hope Scholarship

Introduction:

In the state of Georgia, Georgia Department of Education offered many high school or college students for the Hope Scholarship. Sonny Perdue started the Hope Scholarship in 2005; however, Perdue terms as a Georgia's governor end this year. In last November, Bo Deal won Georgia's governor. He wanted to cut the pay of the Hope Scholarship Program. Many college students in Georgia are upset and outrage about the decision. According to studies, Hope Scholarship would hurt many college students who are in remedies classes or financial problem. I can tell five reasons that Georgia Department of Education should not cut the pay of Hope Scholarship program.

Free Education

Hope Scholarship program offered free education in colleges in Georgia. Hope Scholarship is good for public, community, or private colleges. In high school, you got to have 3.5-4.0 on your grade point average. For example, I received the Hope Scholarship at my high school last year. In college, Hope Scholarship wanted college students to have 3.0-4.0 on your grade point average. It will stays with you through your college years.

Books

The college books are most expensive thing in college. However, Hope Scholarship can pay on some of your books. Most books in college range around $100 through $200 dollars. Hope Scholarship can pay any books that are over $100 dollars; however, any books are under $100 dollar then we paid for rest of the books.

Financial

Hope Scholarship can assist us with our financial situation. Hope program can pay anything in college such as books, fees, and tuition. If you have Hope grants, Hope Scholarship can pay you back. Pell grants do the same thing too.

Enroll More Students

Hope Scholarship program enrolled many students who are lower-class, middle-class or high-class. According to studies, lower-class students say that they are going to school because of the Hope Scholarship. All colleges in Georgia enrolled more students every year. For instance, West Georgia Technical College, a community college, has only three campuses in 2005, but now they have seven campuses this year. West Georgia Technical College is going quarter system to semester system. Hope Scholarship can help many students to stay at college instead of dropping out of school.

Georgia Lotto

What Georgia Lottery got to do with the Hope Scholarship program. Georgia Lottery is now started to help Hope Scholarship program. Most of Hope Scholarship's money comes from Georgia Lottery. When lotto gamblers pay their money over lotto number or tickets, it is contributed to Hope Scholarship program. Georgia Lottery has information about Hope Scholarship on their website page.

Final Thoughts

I don't want Hope Scholarship to be cut because I will be paying almost fifty percent of every thing in college. More students should protest about this issue. We got to let Georgia's government listen to us. Georgia Department of Education should not cut the pay of Hope Scholarship program because Hope Scholarship program benefits us in many ways
