We all have dads. All our dad's say some of the most amazing things. All our dad's say things that some other dad's may never think to say.
All our dad's say things that make us go hmmmmm...
Here are my top five quotes by my dad to live by
I'm not sure how long ago my dad began to say this to me, but I know that it is something that began very early in my childhood. My best guess is that he may have begun telling me this after first gazing through that great big window in the nursery wing at the hospital. I do know that it is something he would say to me anytime I was feeling down or the mood struck him and he continued to tell me this from time to time, even up until the last few years of his life.
I'm an Army Brat, we lived in Military housing a good deal of the time, while he was in the service. This is how he use to call us to come inside before dark. He never came out and called us by our names. He never had too, since no one else's dad used this, his personal Dad call to get the kids inside the house quicker than most. We always came, he never had to come find us. We knew better than to not go home as soon as he called us.
When I was about 13 or 14 a talent scout found me and made a recording contract offer. Dad said, "No!" at that time. I never understood why he said no and would not even listen to the entire offer. Heck, I was excited about it and Dad shot down the idea hard and quick. About 14 years later, I got up the nerve to ask him "Why?" and this was his answer to me. "I know what you can do. I know how talented you are. I Know What that Life is Like and I Didn't Want that Kind of Life for You". Seems he was doing his best at that time to watch out for me. ~ The End
My dad had a strange and wacky sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh, but he only would try if he liked you. If not, you didn't get the time of day. This is a quote he would say to us to let us know we were pushing the balance. I always thought it was funny and I know that's the way he meant it, at least when he said it to us.
The last thing my dad said to me was, "I Love You, *nickname*". He was the only person who ever really called me by that particular name and I will never forget his last words to me. However, this is the quote that I think is the best for this list since it applies to anything and everything, so I just keep trying. "No Matter What You Do, Do Your Best Always"
I miss you Dad! *X's & O's*
