Shoes

One item that never fails for back to school is a good pair of sneakers. No matter what your kids style with today's fashions shoes style should be no problem. Sneakers work well and I have never heard of a kid getting sent home for wearing a pair of good solid basic sneakers.

Book Bag

Your child can get the most out of an age appropriate book bag. For young children I advise that you do not put too much money into a book bag. All you need is one that get will get your child through one year of school. Little kids are rough on school bags and by next year they will want a new one to reflect their ever changing fashion sense.

By high school you can save a bundle by buying a top notch well made book bag that will last all the way through the high school years and even carry over into the college years. Your kid is not likely to outgrow this bag so it needs to be one that will carry over into a more adult world.

Writing Instruments

Every school seems to be different but they all require your child to show up prepared. Stock up on pens, pencils, markers and high-lighters.

If this is not your child's first year in school then you probably all ready have a good idea what is and is not acceptable. Otherwise buy just a few items till you know for sure what your child will need.

Go ahead and stock up on items you absolutely know your child will need and use. Those back-to-school sales will save you a bundle.

Paper

If you know what type paper your child will need for the school year stock up by taking advantage of those back to school sales.

On the other hand it is wise to wait or you may wind up with loads of paper and notebooks that they can't even use. Don't waste your money this way, it is worth it to buy only a small amount till you know for sure what is acceptable.

Water Bottles

Water bottles have become not only permissible in most schools but are often encouraged. Whether your child needs to carry a water bottle daily or only during certain events now is a good time to choose one.

Insulated water bottles may be a good idea in some ways but after a long school day most aren't worth the extra expense. Look for a simple, easy to carry reusable water bottle for you child's back to school needs.

Final Thoughts

If this is your first year of buying back to school supplies you may feel bambuzzled with all the teacher requests.

Take it from an old pro, before spending a small fortune for loads of requested items stick with the basics. After a few days check back with the teacher for an update.

There is nothing more disappointing than thinking you're done with your shopping only to learn most of what you purchased is unusable. And what's worse is you now have to go through it all over again.

This is a good list of back to school items. I guess it is that time of year again. There are a lot of good sales on school supplies right now.
