Here are some traditional household hints as only our Grannies could invent and used without spending lots of money.
Rub a peeled apple with lemon juice - lemon juice contains Vitamin C which is an antioxidant and is clear when oxidised; therefore it will prevent the apple from browning.
As commercial cleaning products may be harsh on the paintwork on walls, try soda crystals - dissolve about 75g crystals for each 2 cups of warm water and use a soft cloth to gently wipe painted walls.
When you drop and egg on the floor or any surface for this matter, pour salt over it and leave it for a few minutes. The egg will harden and will be much easier to clean up.
When chewing gum got stuck into carpets or other fabrics freeze the gum with an ice cube - it will harden and can then be easily removed. Gently wash the carpet or fabric where it was stuck.
When you have to grill some greasy food in the oven, pour some water into the grill pan. After grilling you can just pour out the water and wipe the pan with a damp cloth.
