His bedside manners are the best that I have seen in a doctor. He spends a good amount of time with you listening to your complaints about the problems you are having. He does a complete exam with x-rays. He then explains to you what the diagnosis is and what he would recommend what the treatment should be. He explains everything so that it is easily understood. He also asks you if you have any questions or thoughts. He is a doctor that actually listens to you. He is not a doctor that will rush through the appointment. He allows enough time with the patient.

Cortisone Injections

Dr. Rory Wright is not one to rush into surgery. He wants to make sure that every possible option is done before rushing you to the surgical table and performing surgery. He believes that not everyone needs surgery. He would prefer to take the cheaper route if at all possible.

Instead of going in for surgery, he would prefer to try giving you a cortisone injection first if he feels that it might help you out. He makes sure that you are okay with it. He is able to give you a cortisone injection right there in the office right away if he feels it is right and if you feel comfortable about having one done. Orthovisc

If the cortisone injection doesn't work, he might try an orthovisc injection which is also done right there in the office. He explains to you that an orthovisc injection only works in 50% of his patients.

An orthovisc injection is a fluid that cushions, protects, and lubricates your knee. Because it cushions your knee, it can take care of the pain in your knee. Remember though that this only helps about 50% of patients with knee pain and loss of cushioning. Dr. Wright explains all of this so that you will completely understand this. There is a series of 3 injections spread out evenly. If you are the 50% ratio that it will help, this injection can last up to 6 months with no pain. If you are allergic to poultry or bird feathers, you are not to take this injection. Again, Dr. Wright explains all of this to you.

Knee Replacement

Dr. Rory Wright does both partial and full knee placements if he feels that medication, exercise, and injections will not help you. He will look at the x-rays and will determine how much cushioning you have left in your knee which will determine if you will need a partial or a full knee replacement. Dr. Wright will not rush to do a knee replacement until everything else is done that he feels might help you out without going to the extremes of having surgery. Dr. Wright is a very thorough doctor.

Follow Up

Dr. Wright is very good at scheduling follow up appointments. He wants to be sure that you are pain free no matter if you are just given medication, an injection of cortisone or orthovisc, or if he has done a knee replacement. He wants to be sure that you are comfortable and that you are feeling better.
