Indie authors refers to not traditionally published authors; authors that have self published. This is my wonderful list of Indie authors, maybe one day I will join their ranks. (Look for me, I'm writing my story on Wattpad now, check the Suggested Links below to read the first two chapters!)
At only 26 years old, Amanda Hocking became a millionaire, almost overnight, by self publishing her eBooks on Smashwords, PubIt, and CreateSpace! Well, not overnight, it took a few months, but it was less than a year! With her 'My Blood Approves' series and the Trylle Trilogy.
Jay Asher self published his book, 'Thirteen Reasons Why', and even created YouTube promo videos of the tapes from the books. (You'll have to read it to understand.) It's about a girl that commits suicide, but right before she does, she sends out thirteen cassette tapes to the people that are responsible for her wanting to do what she did. Very moving story, I'm on the 18th friend I've lent it to now. Plus, there's talk about making his book into a movie!
Victorine Lieski wrote the romantic suspense novel, Not What She Seems, which became a New York Bestseller! She also writes a very popular blog named VictorineWrites.
Cheryl Shireman is the author of Life is But a Dream. Life Is But a Dream is the story of a woman redefining herself and taking control of her life as she struggles to understand her present circumstances. It's a story of the power of love, the devastating consequences of depression, and the strength of the human spirit.
David Dalglish is the author of the famous books the Half-Orc Series, the Shadowdance Trilogy, The Paladins Series, and also the Land of Ash anthology.
These aren't the only indie authors that have become famous or got publishing deals, but they are some of the most influential and inspiring to a lot of indie authors out there.
