Brownies can easily be turned into red velvet brownies by adding red food coloring to the batter. Brownies can also be "swirled" with cheesecake for extra richness.
There are several variations for red velvet cheesecake. Some layer the cheesecake in between layers of red velvet cake. My personal favorite way to make it is with a chocolate cookie crumb crust, on top of which is a thin layer of red velvet cake followed by cheesecake on top.
Red velvet whoopie pies consist of two layers of dense cake with a sweet rich cream in the center. The filling can be anything from a sweet vanilla icing to a cream cheese frosting.
