Introduction:

In buying a saddle, it's not only about what fits that matters, but also you need to consider if it also provides comfort to your horse. One more thing that you need to look into when buying a saddle is the tree.

The saddle tree is what made up a saddle. It's the foundation of the saddle and which everything is built. Below are the different saddle tree forms that you can choose depending on your needs.

Raw Hide

This durable type of saddle tree is perfect for heavy works on the ranch. Because it flexes better, it is suitable for longer use, making it a great working saddle.

Fiber Glass

This saddle tree is what usually the saddle makers use as of recently. That is because the fiber glass coatings make a better and stronger tree but maintains it flexibility.

Bullhide

Bullhide saddle tree is considered as the most expensive type because it is one of the finest saddle trees constructed with new synthetic materials. This type is made similarly to Raw Hide but it is much thicker and more comfortable with your horse.

Synthethic

Synthetic trees are either built of fiber glass or plastic that goes through a mold process. But not all synthetic trees are of same quality and aren't flexible as wood trees.

Flex

This tree type is made of adjustable lever outside of the saddle, hence the term flex. It enables the tree to move in and out depending on your horses' conformation, making it the most suitable saddle tree for all horses.




Final Thoughts

There are quite a number of saddle trees to choose from but it's always important to know the name because it does affect how you ride your horses.
