Time to freshen up the walls with new paint? Wnat to change things up a bit? Here are some tips to help you decide on a new paint color.
Color trends change each year. Check out the newest trends online by searching the year plus the words "color" or "paint." Look to unbiased agencies such as the Paint Quality Institute, as well as paint manufacturer's websites.
Pay attention to the colors your friends have on their walls. Better yet, visit the local Parade of Homes or tour open houses and see what works or what doesn't in settings similar to yours.
Most paint stores and paint departments have style books that you can browse or brochures you can take home. Pick up some paint chips, too, and some painter's tape. Tape the chips to a wall you plan to paint so you can see the colors as the light changes in the room.
Take photos of the room(s) you plan to paint and upload them on one of the many websites that lets you "try out" colors online. House Beautiful and Sherwin Williams are just 2 of many sites that offer this free feature.
Many paint manufacturers offer pint sized containers of their colors. Paint a section of wall for a better idea than a tiny swatch will offer. Live with the color(s) for a few days (or weeks) and see what you think, before you commit to a whole room.
your tips are so helpful, thank you!

Nice ideas for getting the right color.
This is so hard for me to pick out colors of paint. I get my girlfriends to help. Thanks for the tips. I needed it.
Great ideas. I just picked out some paint by scouring magazines and then buying some tiny sample bottles they sell now for some brands. Amazing how far those tiny things go.
Good ideas, I always have a tough time picking out paint.
Great tips. We have a few more rooms to do in our house. I love picking out paint. I don't know why...I'm just weird that way. LOL!
