On 16 January 2011 a remarkable woman passed away. This remarkable woman was my mother, Naomie de Villiers. She was more than 8 decades old and it is difficult to do justice to a person who had a life to the fullest in a few paragraphs. But, talk about love and you talk about her. Her life was love and therefore it will be easy to describe this woman and love.
God created her and therefore she loved God. And God loved her because she was truly a child of Him. Her love for God was like a bright light generated from her for the whole world to see it.
She loved life because God borrowed it to her. Therefore life was precious to her. In spite of many illnesses and a life riddled by pain, she kept her head high. She is the one who also said that she won't complain for not having shoes because there are people who do not have feet!
She had a wonderful marriage; only love. They adored each other and together they lead by example as far as marriage and love for each other was concerned.
In spite of not being blessed with good health she had three children and she devoted her life to them. Material things in life did not matter, but spiritual well-being for them was top on her priority list. Later on she was blessed with 2 daughters-in-law and one son in law but she took them in as her own with the same love.
She had 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and needless to say, she loved them all on equal basis. She was truly a lovable grandmother to them.
She was a peoples' person. She loved them unconditionally and where ever she went she spread laughter and joy. She touched lives! For her a rose did not have thorns - for her thorns had beautiful roses!
She left an empty space in our homes but in our lives and hearts she will live for ever!
