Male tenor singers are my favorite singers to listen to and there are some prodigy tenors that deserve a high five. It's difficult to pick just five male tenors, as there are many great ones, but here goes.
Franki Valli sang a high pitched, three octave tenor that captivated crowds everywhere. Frankie was a self-taught singer with no formal training, was one of three brothers and grew up in a tough, working-class neighborhood. Franki Valli and The Four Seasons were the biggest "Doo Wopp" group around in the 60s and had close to a 40 year singing career and sold over 100 million records. I still love to listen to his tenor voice.
Jay Siegel is the spectacular tenor voice behind the hit song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Jay Siegel and The Tokens recorded the song and are still going strong to this day as a singing "Doo-Wopp" group.
Paul McCartney one of the famous Beatles, has a beautiful tenor voice and he can hit many ranges besides. Some of my favorite songs featuring Paul's high tenor range are: Every Night, Maybe I'm Amazed, Ooh You, Bip Bop and Can't Buy Me Love.
Neil Young is another prodigy that brings it home with his unique tenor voice. Favorite songs: Heart Of Gold, Old Man, Cinnamon Girl, The Needle And The Damage Done and Don't Let It Bring You Down.
David Phelps sings gospel music and raises the roof every time I hear him. He can hit soprano notes that many women singers cannot reach. He is the greatest male gospel tenor singer I've ever heard. Songs by David Phelps that almost make me fall over: O Holy Night, It Is Well With My Soul, The Love of God, I Bowed On My Knees and Cried Holy and Just As I Am.
