We were shopping for a new sofa today. Here are the top 5 features that might influence our final decision (besides price, of course!)
This time around, we really want reclining sofas. They just seem so darn comfy! To be able to sit on the couch regularly OR recline whenever you want is a great feature. Plus, it gets rid of the need for an ottoman.
We don't like leather. In the summer it makes you feel sticky. Plus I always worry about leather getting cut by accident and being beyond repair.
Many sofas now-a-days are overstuffed. I guess they are trying to sell comfort as if you are floating on a cloud. However, I find that to be uncomfortable in the long run. Overstuffed couches often get squished down quickly and lose their appeal. I prefer firm couches that will last overtime.
Some of the sofas on the market have an armrest/cupholder right in the middle of the couch. I do not like this. I like to be able to lay on a sofa anytime without anything in my way. Sofas that have cup holders mean you can only sit on them one way.
Some sofas we saw have special features. Like the loveseat that rocks, or the sofa that has a hidden cup holder / tray compartment. These features are neat but we have to think about whether we would really make use of them.
In the end we found a great looking sofa set that is fabric material, firm, with recliners and we decided to pass on all the special features. Next up - pick out end tables!
