Joan Miro was a painter from Barcelona, Spain. His work is interpreted as Surrealism.
Joan Miro's Swallow/Love is an interesting painting of mainly blue with red, white, black, yellow, and orange figures. Many of them look like hands or feet. The word "amour" can be seen and so can "hirondelle," which is the name of a cruise ship. Perhaps these are all lovers at sea?
Even though the painting is surrealism, it is easy to tell that a carnival is happening in Miro's Harlequin's Carnival. The paining of objects as purple and black evokes the image of a harlequin wearing the two toned hat.
Joan Miro's "Painting" presents an interesting look at the art. The colors seems to represent passions as cool can be calm and red can be anger. Then, things like blobs of paint, paint brushes, and other painting tools seem to appear in the objects in the painting.
In "Vegetable Garden with Donkey," Miro painting something less abstract. However, it cannot be called a landscape as it is done in many squares and odd shapes.
While Miro dominated this painting with warm colors, it is a neat painting. Is there an old shoe in it? Yes, there is. The harder part is spotting it. There are other every day objects in the painting, too. Can you recognize them?
