Gout is a form of Arthritis. Tiny crystals of acid and debris build up in an area of the body, causing pain, redness, swelling and inflammation. Know the Remedies/Precautions for the pain in the foot (literally) condition of Gout. I have seen these interventions take on great success for many of my clients.
Water- Drink tremendous amounts to wash away build up of uric acid. 1 gallon a day is recommended. Try to drink filtered or distilled water (stay away from artificially flavored waters such as Crystal Light). Mixing your water with Apple Cider Vinegar- A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar each morning is effective in preventing gout attacks.
A substance in cherries called anthocyanochides are very effective in lowering uric levels. Eat ½ cup cherries a day to help with gout. Wild or black cherries work best, but because they are so hard to find, a wild or black cherry extract in either liquid or pill form is recommended. You can also find 100% cherry juice.
Purine is a protein related substance that the body turns into uric acid. You can control uric acid levels by avoiding foods rich in purine such as: all organ meat (liver and kidney), high fat meats/red meats, sardines, mackerel, anchovies, sweetbreads, cakes, asparagus, and beans.
Avoid these Inflammatory Trigger Foods- Citrus, tomatoes, dairy, and sugar.
Avoid Alcohol- Alcohol triggers production of uric acid (liquor, beer, wine). All alcohol contains sugar & ethyl, a trigger for acid production.
Take an Enzyme Supplement- Enzymes help break down foods that may be causing irritation, inflammation & swelling. Vitamin B6 and Magnesium- Vitamin B6 helps distribute water in the body to all tissues to keep them hydrated, which prevent crystals. Magnesium helps absorb B6, so they must go together to help.
