If you are in a relationship and you are either married or at least living in the same roof, there has been a fight over money. First you will need to sit down and talk about the goals that each of you want to reach financially. It sometimes may seem obvious but it is definitely a conversation worth talking about. There may be huge differences in how someone may want to use their money so it should be made clear in that discussion.
Both people should have an organized budget of their income and expenses. You could go over last month and see how you spend your money and how much you make each month. Know everything from how much you paid for gas and how many Starbucks Coffee's you bought.
Have a discussion about how you will handle the monthly bills as well as any debts you have. Maybe you could split the bills right in the middle or you can have one person pay for this bill and the other for that bill.
When talking about money issues it is important to leave any emotions out the door. You do not want them to get the better of you. Find the issues that you are having (financially) and how you will get over them.
Find a plan that will suit both of your needs. Maybe one of you likes to spend and have a lot more 'fun' with loose spending while the other may like to have frugal spending.
