Many churches have different Baptism ceremonies, yet most often they all share some common preparations a person should follow before that Baptism takes place. When parents choose to Baptize a baby before that baby is able to make their own decisions, these preparations will not apply. Therefore it is only adult or teen Baptism that these preparations apply.
Learning why you want to be Baptized begins according to your church affiliation. Each church can guide you to determine what could help you determine if you will be Baptized in what ever way your particular church performs that ceremony. Learn about your Bapitizing ceremonies from your Minister, Pastor or clergy person whom you trust and respect.
Talk to members of your church, close friends and relatives who attend the same church as you do. Listening to when they got Baptized and their reasons will help you better understand why they received the Holy Baptism and when too.
The Holy Bible is full of answers to any question you could possibly have in any subject. Look into the scriptures to read about Baptism, who actually got Baptized and how it was performed as well.
Pray for guidance for yourself to be lead by the Holy Spirit to come into your life and direct you to better know Jesus. When you pray your answers will be given to you. That is not to say they will be the ones you expect, since God gives us what we need, not always what WE THINK we need.
Believe as you pray, talk, listen, read and learn all about Baptism that you will be doing the righteous things. Deciding to be Baptized is a personal choice, one that God allows everyone. Jesus is waiting for you to choose HIM and the ways of the good selections not the evil choices available.
