Face it, you have at least one place that is cluttered in your home. More than likely you have several. Clearing the clutter from your living space can make it feel alive and full of energy once again. Not only will the space feel better, but so will you. Give it a try and see for yourself.
The infamous junk drawer is a haven for clutter. The drawer could be in the kitchen, in a bedroom or a home office. Most of us have one or more such "catch all" spots where we toss everything that just doesn't seem to have a home. Dump it out, clean it out and re-organize. Yes, it will hurt.
According to feng shui principles, clutter is an energy drain no matter where it lies. But clutter under the bed is especially draining because nighttime sleep is supposed to be rejuvenating and healing. If underneath the bed is crammed full of stuff, good energy can't circulate. This means your quality of sleep may be severely interrupted.
Closed doors seem to be the modern scapegoat for clutter (disguised as storage). Take an afternoon and pull everything out of the closet and toss or give away anything that hasn't been used in a year or more. Make space.
Medicine cabinets and sink cabinets tend to accumulate more and more stuff as new items get put in and older items are pushed to the back. Take everything out and if it's expired, throw it away. Also toss any shampoos, soaps and other items that don't appeal to your senses and you likely won't use.
Surface areas are notorious for collecting clutter. It's just too easy to enter a room and drop books, keys, laptops, papers and mail on the kitchen counter or table top. Define a designated area for these basic items and USE it. Save the counter and table top for what they're meant for.
Clearing clutter may seem like a daunting task even if you're not a hoarder. (If you are, you will likely need help to address your hoarding problem). Tackle the clutter one small piece at a time to avoid overwhelm. Before you know it, you will find yourself feeling lighter, more energetic and enjoying your living space a whole lot more.
Have you been peeking in my closets? Yes, they could use a good clean out.
