Introduction:

Not all dogs are great with kids, or recommended for people with kids. The cute Chihuahua is definitely not a "kid" dog.

Pound Pups

Not really puppies, but older dogs from the pound are my first choice when looking for a dog. The pound often knows whether or not they are good with kid, and their temperament. When you get a puppy, even a purebred, you have no idea about the personality. An older dog from the pound, you often are told what to expect from their personality. You don't have to search dogs for sale in order to find a GOOD dog, just saying..

A true fact is that mutts generally live longer than purebreds.

Golden Retriever

Most people know these are awesome dogs for kids. My daughter learned how to walk, using the side of our golden retriever to hold on to, and walk across. These dogs are extremely smart, loyal, and not usually timid or aggressive. They are also often very patient.

They still do require a lot of exercise, and playing time. Check online and see where golden retriever pups are for sale.

Labrador Retriever

Labradors are one of the most popular breeds of all the dogs. They are playful, protective, reliable, patient, and loving. They are really smart, and really sweet. They are great family pets.

You do have to research your breeders well for this breed, because there are a few bad apple breeders and you could get a dog that you just can't train.

Standard Poodle

The standard poodles are often remembered by the wild haircuts they are given. They are really smart, easy to train, loyal, and gentle dogs. This is the best choice if your child has an allergy! These dogs are hypoallegenic. They are high maintenance dogs because they don't shed. They do required scheduled grooming visits.

Vizsla

I think of the Vizsla dogs as a dog with manners. They are extremely gentle, and great with kids. They are quiet and very affectionate. These dogs are also very smart, and love their families. They love to learn new tricks!

I am surprised that we don't see more of these dogs now. I think the Vizsla has been the best kept secret!




Final Thoughts

There should be a disclaimer here. Not all dogs have the above dispositions. This is the majority of it's breed, but you can get a few bad apples. You can have psycho dogs too. Good luck with your choice! :)
