The movie "Bambi," was based on the novel "Bambi" by Felix Salten whose real name was Siegmann Salzmann. He got the inspiration for the novel when he went on a trip to Italy and developed a fascination for the word "bambino."
While the movie "Bambi" is based on the novel of the same name, Thumper is not in the novel. Walt Disney added the character, originally called Bobo in the first draft, to add comic relief to the script.
"Bambi" has some unused scenes from "Pinocchio" in the movie. These scenes can be seen as some of the woodland creatures and the forest fire.
The antlers could not be drawn correctly, so a model was made and rotoscoped onto the film. Deer also do not lend to a human look, so the solution was the fuse Bambi's look with the way a human baby looks.
There are two asteroids that are named after characters in the film. Which two character? It is obvious once it is known that these two asteroids have the names "Bambi" and "Thumper."
