Introduction:

Snakes can not only be startling, they can be poinsonous and dangerous to have in your yard. Here are five ways to keep snakes out of your yard.

Mow and Use a Weedeater Regularly

Keep the grass and brush in your yard to a minimum. Mow regularly and cut down tall weeds or brush. This does not give snakes an adequate place to hide, therefore keeping snakes out of your yard. Keeping the grass and brush to a minimum will also keep a snakes food souce such as frogs, mice and insects, to a minimum.

Noise

When there is a lot of commotion in a yard, snakes will be less likely to hang out. Shake a can full of rocks or drag the can through the yard periodically to give snakes a warning to leave your yard.

Other Animals

Having a large dog or several dogs in a yard will keep snakes to a minimum as they like a quiet place. Cats might also keep smaller snakes away.

Remove Piles of Wood and Logs

Do not leave piles of wood or logs in your yard. This gives snakes a place to hide or keep cool when it is hot. Be careful when removing a pile of wood, brush or logs from your yard because you may find a snake already hiding out.

Use Repellants

There are options for snake repellants available at your local hardware store. Snake repellants can be placed along the perimiter of your yard to create a barrier for keeping snakes our of your yard.
