Besides Kurt, Rachel and Mercedes have the best voices on the show, so any duet with them is going to be great. But this song was amazing. It was Broadway, so of course Rachel was going to nail it. But it was also an angry, bluesy song, so Mercedes was in her element as well. The result was a treat for all!
This performance was so so silly. I mean, I know they cast Chord Overstreet just because he looks so much like Beiber. I knew it was inevitable that they'd feature him. But I didn't expect it to be quite as cartoony as this. Finn's disbelief echoed my own. I can't say that it wasn't an entertaining performance either. But not so much in a "what great singing/dancing/effects" sort of way as a "that was hilarious" sort of way.
SO. CREEPY! I actually really like Rachel, and I really miss the early days when she got so much of the spotlight. But I've never been a fan of how she dresses. And I know that's the point, and the running gag of the show. So to see all the girls slowly evolve into Berry clones was so surreal. I just wanted to shake the former Cheerios and say "Look at yourselves!"
Like the Beiber performance, this was not the best vocal performance Glee has seen to date. But it was entertaining for so many reasons. Not just the irony of Lauren singing a "come get me," song. But when she pictured everyone in their underwear to help her nerves, seeing Sue in that get-up was hilarious. And then flinging Brittany and Tina at the end to show off how powerful and confident kept me laughing through the whole thing.
I did NOT expect Sam to dump Quinn. I knew Santana was going to go for it, but I expected him to turn her down, saying that he didn't believe Quinn was cheating, and later end up heartbroken. Good for him for tossing her out like old garbage. Though I don't see this Santana thing lasting, at least he's not sitting around pining for the wicked witch.
