The Triangle Tray is the third tray in the Geometric Cabinet found in the Montessori sensorial area. It consists of six different triangles, identified in name first by their angle, then by their sides. The first triangle is the equilateral triangle, which is the most common triangle used for teaching shapes to children. The equilateral triangle has three sides that are identical in length. The other five triangles vary in size.
In this triangle, acute means that all of the angles measure less than 90 degrees. Isosceles means that two of the sides are identical in length.
In this triangle, one angle comes to a perfect 90 degree angle with perpendicular lines. Isosceles indicates that two of the sides are identical in length.
In the obtuse isosceles triangle of the geometric cabinet, obtuse means that one of the angles measures greater than 90 degrees. Isosceles, again, indicates two of the sides are the same length.
The right scalene triangle has an angle that measures at a perfect 90 degrees. Scalene indicates that all three of the sides measure at different lengths.
The obtuse scalene triangle looks like the smallest triangle in the Montessori tray. Obtuse means one of the angles measures at greater than 90 degrees. Scalene means all three sides have a different length.
Use the triangle tray of the Montessori Geometric Cabinet as part of the shape studies in the Montessori sensorial curriculum.
One smart list and good info for those wanting it.
Awesome list! H5!
I have to admit, I haven't a clue what these are!
