Sometimes you need more energy and vitality just to get through the day. Try something other than energy drinks and energy bars. Coffee and caffeine drinks offer an immediate boost but these techniques help me get through my most hectic days. I try to do these five simple things every day.
Include lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats and plenty of water into your diet every day. Aim for eating a hearty meal early in the day when you digestion is more active. This allows your body to use calories from the meal as fuel more efficiently and delivers sustained energy throughout the day.
Add activity to your day, it fires-up energy stores. Simple walking gets the blood pumping, which then delivers oxygen to the body's cells more efficiently, thereby increasing energy. Spend a few minutes in the sunshine. Body rhythms are linked with the circadian rhythms of daylight and darkness. Sunshine and fresh air provide your body with additional energy and vitality.
Take a mental break regardless of how hectic your day is. Find a moment to energize by contacting friends or family. Connect with people who care. This break your energy-sapping mental fatigue, which will give you a positive energy boost. A laugh with a friend can lift your mood, which increases your energy.
Make a list of your daily accomplishments. Don't fret about unfinished business, worry saps energy. Dwell on what you have rather than what you don't have. Practicing daily gratitude can produce a sense of accomplishment and promote positive energy.
Practice good sleep hygiene. Lack of sleep causes low energy, moodiness and even apathy. Pay attention to the temperature of the room, the light from the windows, the comfort of your bed, the weight of the blankets, the sounds. Determine how you achieve a restful night's sleep and work to create the right environment.
