Gather the measuring cup , spatula , mixing bowls to be fully prepared for your Moroccan anise bread. This keeps everything in one place for your recipe to be easily created
Ingredients:
3 teaspoons dry yeast
1and third cups warm water
1 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2-3 teaspoons anise seeds
4 teaspoons salt
4 cups all purpose flour
1 egg white, beaten with 1 teaspoon water
3 teaspoons sesame seeds
Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup of the water. Add the honey and let stand 5 to 10 minutes. Add the remaining water, oil, anise, salt, and 2 cups of the flour. Add the remaining flour until the mixture holds together.
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise at room temperature for 1½ hours.
Divide the dough into 2 halves and shape each piece into a ball, cover, and let rest for about 10 minutes.
Flatten each dough ball into 15 cm round and let rise again at room temperature for about 1 hour
Preheat the oven to 180º C. Brush the tops of the loaves with the egg white and lightly sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown
