There are so many convenient things about yoga that go beyond simple health benefits. Here are the top five aspects of yoga that make it a convenient and fulfilling workout.
You can practice yoga pretty much anywhere! Whether it's in a large classroom, in your own home, or outside on the beach, the location where you practice yoga is incredibly flexible. If you don't have time to make it to a class, you can schedule your own practice whenever it's convenient for you, and wherever you can find some space.
Many yoga classes are low-cost and have flexible attendance policies. Unlike gym memberships, where you pay a monthly fee, many yoga classes are structured so that you pay on a per-class basis--so you're only paying for the time you actually benefit from the class. Additionally, there are many free online yoga resources to help you build an at-home yoga practice. Two of my favorite yoga sites are Yoga Journal and YogaYak.
With the exception of hot yoga, or Bikram yoga, sweating is generally kept to a minimum with many yoga practices. This means that you won't have to worry as much about planning your yoga workout around when you can shower. You also won't feel gross or exhausted after practicing yoga--instead, you'll feel relaxed, refreshed, and reenergized.
While many yoga lovers might own a yoga mat and some leggings, there are really no pieces of equipment or clothing that are necessary to practice yoga. Forget spending $100 on a new pair of sneakers or thousands on a home fitness center--all you need for yoga is your body and plenty of open space!
Yoga is available to all age groups--including kids and the elderly! It can be an incredibly fun and convenient activity for entertaining or calming children, while helping them get some exercise. Similarly, older people might enjoy yoga, as there are a wide range of poses that do not place undue pressure or strain on the joints or muscles, making it a safe and comfortable workout.
Additionally, many aspects of yoga, such as breathing exercises or simple stretches, can be used at any time to calm the mind and body.
Great info ... thanks for the list!
Great list.
My daughter loves yoga, but my disability prevents me from doing most of the poses. I can do some, however, and it is a great benefit!
Thanks for the list.
