Introduction:

Who doesn't like Catwoman? If you're a guy, it's obvious. If you're a woman, what's not to like about a skin tight outfit you can wear and a whip you can use on bad boys? Here are my favorite actresses that have played Catwoman on TV or in the movies.

Lee Meriwether

Lee Meriwether played Catwoman in the film version of Batman. It was a one-time role, but she nailed it. Like the TV show, the movie was campy and she played the part to perfection.

Julie Newmar

Julie Newmar is who I normally think of when I remember Catwoman from the 1960s Batman TV show. I loved that show with all its campiness. I got a kick out of watching the henchmen wear cute cat costumes. Just imagine it: 200-300 pound guys wearing cute cat ears!

Ertha Kitt

After Newmar left, it was Ertha Kitt's turn to play the role. She brought a little bit of a difference to the role - a more sultry Catwoman.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer was perhaps the first to play a serious Catwoman in a movie (Batman Returns). Her acting was always top-knotch, but her eyes behind the mask really helped her. There was an intensity there that you just can't buy.

Halle Berry

I actually liked Halle Berry playing Catwoman in a solo Movie. While Berry did the best she could, the movie as a whole was a bomb because of the lame story and a lame supporting cast. Whoever wrote the script and performed the casting should be shot - it reeked of two horny guys that wanted to fulfill their fantasies: Halle Berry and Sharon Stone having a cat-fight at the end. Now that's campy.




Final Thoughts

Even with all of these great Catwoman performances, the one I am most looking forward to is the one that Anne Hathaway will portray in the Dark Knight Rises. If she can do even 1/10th the job Heath Ledger did with the Joker, I think she will be a fantastic Catwoman.

    I agree with everything you stated about the Halle Berry movie .. lame cast, lame plot, but Halle was TOTALLY WEARING that CAT SUIT .. like it was painted on! I'd give the nod to Eartha Kitt as the best overall Cat Woman, but Halle is the FINEST !!
