Introduction:Some types of diarrhea require immediate medical attention, especially if it has been a long term case. Other types of diarrhea can be stopped by effective methods to bring comforting relief from an uncomfortable condition.
Many things cause diarrhea and you need to avoid any of these triggers. Some of the common diarrhea triggers are pasteurized milk products, greasy foods, too much fiber or veggies, caffeine, meats and produce with bad bacteria on them, pesticide laden foods, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, gluten foods, and overeating. It is best to not eat anything suspicious until you figure out what your triggers are.
Getting extremely upset and emotional can cause instant diarrhea and often happens after some upsetting news. Do things to calm down like a massage, hugs, baths, close family time, and other comforting things that help you to settle down. Avoid food until your stomach settles and drink herbal teas like ginger, licorice, golden-seal, white tea, chamomile, catnip, peppermint and host of other herbal teas.
Probiotics like yogurt and kifer put the good bacteria back into our bowels as well as fermented drinks. Kombucha is an excellent tea that helps to restore the healthy flora in the bowels. Make sure that you get the right fermented foods and not the alcohol on the store shelf. That will make it worse.
Doctors often recommend "BRATTY" meaning bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, tea and yogurt. This as mild food for the stomach as bananas have a soothing mineral effect on the bowels, rice is mild, applesauce has pectin and tea hydrates while yogurt replaces beneficial bacteria. Do not attempt this until you are able to keep solids down.
Imodium will put the diarrhea in check but remember this is a chemical and not for long term use. Avoid going in the kitchen, so germs don't spread and wash your hands a lot.
The kind of stuff everyone needs to know!
